Workplace Safety’s Confined Space Entry course covers the requirements of the OSHA 1910.146 Standard.
Student will learn:
- Confined Space vs. Permit-Required Confined Space
- Permits
- Alternate entry procedures
- Atmospheric testing with equipment demonstration
- Rescue requirements and demonstration of non-entry rescue equipment
- Hazard elimination vs. control
- Respiratory Protection
- Training Requirements
Attendee evaluation of entry scenarios and classroom quizzes are used to develop students understanding of this subject.

Students will learn:
- Fundamentals of machine guarding with photos to illustrate key concepts
- Electrical safety fundamentals, including hazards of electricity, guarding of live parts, grounding, proper use of equipment, use and operation of GFCI’s, and electrical safety-related work practices
- Requirements of OSHA’s lockout/tagout standard (1910.147) is discussed in detail. The term “energy isolating device” is discussed as well as the requirement for equipment-specific lockout/tagout procedures and OSHA’s periodic inspection requirement
- Each of these subjects includes a review of OSHA violations consistently cited by OSHA Compliance Officers during inspections

- Practical compliance with NFPA 70E Electrical Safety for workers in the workplace
- How to do table-based hazard assessments using NFPA 70E
- How to pick PPE based on the NFPA 70E tables
- Differences between the NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA’s standards
- PPE do’s and don’ts for workers exposed to shock and electric arc hazards
- Standards to use in clothing and PPE selection
- What arc rating, ATPV, EBTAS, and EBT really mean to you
Learn changes to revised code:
2018 Edition of NFPA 70E covered.
- Elimination of HRC 0 moving all electrical work into arc rated clothing (non-melting clothing required under AR clothing).
- New RISK-BASED assessment tables with strong requirements for proper equipment maintenance.
- Elimination of PPE for all closed-door operations.
- Term HRC is gone. Clothing companies likely to start using ARC.
- Most ARC PPE in tables is raised. No lowering for risk in tables.
- Calculations emphasized. Table’s usefulness now limited and requiring less or much more PPE.
